INTRODUCTION

The year 2020 witnessed the catastrophe of Covid19 and its effect to almost every section of society. Apart from the Catastrophe of Covid19, the year 2020 also witnessed the tragic demise of a young and talented actor Sushant Singh Rajput which was alleged to be a murder by certain section of society. Since 1990s the country has witnessed the mysterious demise of some of the Bollywood celebrities such as Divya Bharti, Praveen Babi, Jiah Khan, Sridevi and the country has mourned their loss for years but what went wrong that the same public has reacted differently in this case of 2020s such as :-

• The Media were being forced to cover the entire incident for approximately 6 months when the countries were facing the issues of pandemic.

• People were being compelled to boycott the entire Bollywood Industry.

• People who didn’t even watch the movie of the actor when he was alive aggressively came forward to boycott the whole gang that used to insult him when he was alive.

• 40 lakhs people from different parts of the world signed a petition on change.org requesting the CEOs of Netflix, Hotstar, and Amazon Prime not to release the movies of few Bollywood actors, Directors on their OTT Platforms.

• The 2nd most disliked video on YouTube with approximately 1 crores 34 lakhs dislikes is a trailer of a Bollywood movie starring Alia Bhatt.

With this Article we will try to analyze the reasons of this aggressive and uncommon behavior by the public and how it is going to affect the society in the near future.

THE INCIDENT THAT SHOOK THE INDIAN MIDDLE CLASS

While writing the article I still get Goosebumps thinking about the news headline which popped up on my mobile screen “Actor Sushant Singh Rajput commits suicide” on the afternoon of 14th June. This news was something which the middle classes specially those people whose root belongs to the northern and eastern part of our country found it very difficult to digest as no suicide notes were found, photos of a 6 ft tall body hanging within a space of 5 ft 10 inches between fan and bed were not available, Mumbai police officials terming it as suicide within 2 minutes without proper investigation.

UNDERSTANDING THE BACKGROUND OF THE BOYCOTT GANG

At a time when children of the privileged and the upper middle class people enjoy their lavish lifestyle, the teenagers of this class of people were being compelled to prepare day and night for a job. Though these people have the lowest per capita income even below the nation’s average, they lack proper etiquette, doesn’t have proper dressing sense, doesn’t know how to talk, some of them doesn’t even have personal life infact they don’t even know the difference between personal and professional life still this fact cannot be denied that they does have one of the sharpest brain and it is a very difficult task to fool people from this region and this is why it sparked the anger of these people because not only the police but also certain media houses started to divert the attention of the people by labeling it as suicide from day 1 without any investigation. Sushant Singh Rajput belongs to middle class family and was very talented and like every other families of this class he too have struggled a lot before making it big to the cinemas, so when the news of his demise came it was unacceptable, it shattered the dreams of not only each and every youngsters who used to derive inspiration from him but also it affected people from every age groups because he used to represent them in the bigger platform and was the pride of that class of people.

THE REVOLT

For the next few weeks the media houses have tried in every possible ways to divert the attention of the public by not covering the SSR story thinking that the agitation would stop after few days, people will forget the incident like the way they did earlier in other similar cases but as the day has passed the revolt got amplified in the social media.

On 14th June when this news broke people were more active on the social media because of lockdown, so it was obvious that they are going to react on posts related to SSR on social media and that was noticed by the AI system as an opportunity to grab more attention from the users so that the users can use their platform for longer time period and after that the AI started to suggest only posts related to SSR, even its my personal experience when I woke up in the morning of 15th June my entire wall pages were filled with only feeds related to SSR as I have liked few posts related to SSR last night, I have got no other option but to read only those posts related to SSR, this has happened to every social media users who have liked posts related to SSR after hearing the news. For the next 6 months the AI system was continuously suggesting the SSR posts not only on Facebook but on other social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram. The fact cannot be denied that when news feed are flooded with a particular topic so gradually people will be more interested to know everything related to him and that is the reason why his fan following grew stronger when he died. More than 1 crore people came forward to virtually lynch the trailer of a Bollywood movie SADAK 2, had these people supported SSR in cinema hall when he was alive then he would not have been seen requesting a fellow in social media to watch his movies otherwise he will be thrown out of the industry as he has no God father.

UNDERSTANDING FROM PHYSIOLOGICAL PROSPECTIVE

Right from the Ancient time when we hear the story of “Kalidas the poet” a man who was cutting the same branch of a tree on which he was sitting suddenly gets transformed into a personality who is considered as good as William Shakespeare.

Thomas Edison was expelled from the school because teachers thought that he was too slow to learn and told that “he was too stupid to learn anything.” Later, he invented many things such as light bulb, motion picture camera, telephone, phonograph and he has registered more than 1000 patents. His overall schooling is 3 Months.

There are many other cases as well where we all could have noticed some drastic changes into the personality of an individual and that degree of changes depends upon the requirement of certain personality traits in our body, the brain is programmed in such a way that it will try every possible way to achieve whatever our body needs. As the requirement and experience varies in every individuals so in some cases the changes are such that it would be nearly impossible to identity the old personality of that individuals. As the outcome is favorable in almost every case as it empowers the old individuals so nobody wants to consider it as a disorder.

If any incident happens to somebody and one find it very hard to digest and the people have been constantly looking for the information related to that person then depending upon the intensity of how it has affected the person the brain reacts differently, I am not saying that people who protested against this incident are mental patients but whenever this kind of incident occurs which we find very difficult to forget or digest it does affect our subconscious minds and how our mind is going to react differs in every other individuals. In some individuals it affects in such a way that they end up suffering from multiple personality disorder. In other word that personality of dead individuals becomes alive in the other person and he is not even aware about it. That other personality in him will try every possible way to take revenge from the culprit maybe that is why the crowd who doesn’t even know personally , they have got nothing to do with those celebrity they can even lynch few people from the industry provided these celebrities does not get protection by their bodyguards. Even Einstein believes that whatever an individual do or how he reacts, their behavior pattern, etc are being already coded in the brain and if we want that person to alive forever then that behavior pattern of an individual can be artificially designed with the help of code and will be installed in a robot so that under various circumstances whenever we wants any help or we want the opinion of that dead individuals we can simply ask the robot.

CAN MEDIA BE BLAMED?

The story that the media houses covers depends upon the fact that whether it would attract more viewers or not as their revenues also depends upon the views generated on advertisements that are done on their channel. Live every other organization they do have to meet various monetary obligations. They have got investors who needs return, employees who needs salaries, etc. and the reason why I have used this phrase “they are being compelled to cover this incident for 6 months” is because of the viewership, as more numbers of viewers were interested on this news so they had to cover this news for longer time period.

AUTHOR’S OPINION

Some critics are of the opinion that the AI could be a threat to the human being in future as they will dominate us as they are smarter than the human being but the fact is that we are already being dominated by the AI in today’s world. What would you say if someone notices your each and every activities, how much time you are spending on a particular news feed, your likes and dislikes, It knows very well what makes you happy and what makes you sad, and accordingly as per its choice they will try to instigate you and manipulate you as per the requirement of company and this is when we can say that we are being dominated by the AI.

The role which the AI plays in functionality of today’s world cannot be replaced by anyone and I have tried to analyze this whole issue in a technical manner and I believe that by going through my article it could impact the behavior of those people whose mind gets influenced by the contents of social media.

I am not against the people who believe that talent should be appreciated and promoted as that would change the perception of Indian Cinemas at International level and will be beneficial for the Country, People have their own choices they can watch or not it totally depends upon them, but we are a population size of more than 130 crore there are many other important issues as well which needs to be addressed and only people can decide what the media houses will cover. So, it is very necessary that awareness should be made about what actually is happening by this social media companies because more than half of the users are not even aware about this fact that their physiological mindset are being used by these companies for their own benefits. Atleast after knowing this they will give a second thought before showing any aggressive behavior whenever they will go through any social media posts. -By Achint Kumar Singh
